All Rise
En route to a Hayhouse writing retreat in Colorado, my adventurous kiwi-Cath booked us a night sleeping in a teepee. It all sounded exciting until we hit triple digit heat, deep into the 90’s after the sun dropped.
At sunset I did my usual recon to anticipate where the sun would rise the next day. This spot exceeded my imagination, but I had to work for it. Too hot to sleep, we resolved the issue old-school … A trip to the liquor store for some liquid sleep aid. Not exactly the best source for springing out of bed, frankly I don’t even know if I slept.
Somehow the pull of this anticipated shot caused me to overcome my heavy head and test Cathy’s intention to join me.
I chose “All Rise” for the prestigious energy of the sun-kissed “Three Gossips” on the left, appearing to solute the 700’ Courthouse Tower to the right. What I didn’t expect was the story of how hard it would become to rise on this hot summer morning at 4am … to be in this position at 5am, feeling like a zombie.
